Mother’s Day

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

A perfect Mother’s Day verse in my mind. Because tomorrow may not be sweet and happy for all of us. You may not have a mother to celebrate this year, or maybe your upbringing and mom aren’t things you can celebrate. Thinking about your mother may cause memories and hurt to resurface.

Maybe you yourself want to be a mother but can’t, or you’ve lost a baby or a child and Mother’s Day just augments the pain.

You also may be a mother, but it’s a heavy weight to carry at times. Whether we are choosing schools or deciding what type of diapers to use or focusing on developmental milestones or discipline methods or just trying to buy the next size clothes for them…we take our jobs seriously. We often don’t leave ourselves room for much grace because this is too important to mess up. Whatever tomorrow holds for you, I hope you feel God’s grace surrounding you – sufficient for whatever your specific situation may be. In our weakness, in our suffering, He is enough, His power is made perfect. So instead of “happy”, I wish you a “grace-filled Mother’s Day.”
