One part of scripture that is frustrating to me is the concept of miracles or answers to prayers or questions coming to those who believe. As if the people who need a miracle most aren’t also the people who struggle the most to believe.
Like, ‘Oh you’re in a solid mental state and have plenty of faith? Ok, here you go!’ but for the person who desperately needs an answer or direction or miracle but can’t muster a mustard seed…’too bad you doubted too much’?
I don’t have a resolution to this. I’ve come to a place where what I DO believe is that if God is all that he says he is, he can handle me in my questions and frustration and anger.
I’m comforted by the fact that when Thomas said “Unless I touch his wounds, I will never believe,” Jesus appeared again and invited him to touch his wounds. He may have blessed the others for believing without seeing, but he showed up with proof just for Thomas nonetheless.
